oh help I can't open dads files

my dear old dad was a great fan of works. I have coppied all his stuff from his pc onto mine, I need to go through it and see what we need.
trouble is I can't open loads of it. I have works on my pc but it still won't open.
is there a programe on vista that will convert?
could it be vista that is the trouble?

if you right click on the file you want to open, does it give you options? mine says open with works and gives a couple of versions

Any idea what version of Work's you Dad had?

I am not sure, I thought he had the same as mine(i LENT HIM MY DISC) oops
but he must have still been using his very old version.

lol I have installed the first one and can't find it on my pc

I think the first one is an add-on for Office, so it adds the import facility to MS Word.

I keep reading the title as

I can't open my dads flies!!

i have realised my mistaek, I did n't turn of updates so it has been updated.
