Can someone talk to me about Nintendo DS/R4 cards using really simple words?

I really don't understand this stuff.

DD has a Nintendo DS. She bought an R4 card adamant that she knew what to do with it, but it's arrived today and we're both stumped. It's this one There's the R4 card and a USB memory stick, but it looks like it's meant to have an even smaller card (a TF card?) that goes in both the memory stick for downloading and then into the R4 card for playing on the DS. But there doesn't seem to be a TF card and the description doesn't specifically mention one.

Can anyone explain this to me?!

Thank you very much, do you or anyone happen to know if its better to use the R4 than the N5, Ive bought two N5 cards but have been having great difficulty getting them to work.

Hi Sidge. have now got the MicroSD card, downloaded a game but it's not working. it seems to need some firmware, but still doesn't work now I've downloaded. Could I have that email?

My email address is my name, so don't really want to put it here. Can I CAT you?

TIA!

Of course, CAT me and I'll send it straight away.

If you have an SD card you need 5 firmware files, not the usual 4. You need to download R4 English version 1.22 - it should have 5 files. Save them to the SD card and it should work.

Bum that link gives you a download page in Korean!

CAT me and I'll send you the files.

Sidge · 28/03/2009 12:13

Try downloading it here

I just checked and to send you the files would be Very Awkward.

Sidge! Thank you! I now have the R4 working! it's like the picture on your link, though the top screen is different, it says R4 revolution for DS in big letters.

I can't seem to find the game that should be there though. Mind you, I don't know how to use the DS anyway...but nothing happens when I go to the game menu.

Am making progress! I downloaded 2 games and one works (yippee!). The other says it can't find save data, and turn it off and take out the card and put it in again. But that doesn't make a difference. So hopefully that's just one dodgy one. Will try some others.

Thanks for all your help!

No problems, glad you got it working

By the way some sites seem better than others for downloads - I use this site and it seems that if you stick to European downloads they tend to work fine.

Remember the first time you run a game on the DS and it asks if you want to create a SAV file always say yes! That is the saved data.

Sidge, I'm having the same problem as a few above - daughter tries a game and it says 'can't find the save file' or something like that. I tried the link you supplied above, but it gave a korean 404 error. Could you send me the file to jaacar at gmail dot com?
