Some is hand written, so not a copy and paste job, thank you though

I have emailed myself the instructions so I have them at work.

Hopefullt I will get there, this is going to take me years....

You mean the original which you have scanned is hand written?

No sadly not. If the file was originally created as a PDF. You are creating it as a image file which is being saved in PDF format.

You would need OCR software for that - and even then OCR software isn't 100% accurate with handwritten documents.

Well, I tried it with a document I scanned as a pdf at work & I could copy text, but it was scanned to email on our photocopier, so that may make a difference.

RustyBear · 11/03/2009 21:42

Oh, don't think it would work on handwriting.

Hello, I'm trillian's DP (I've borrowed her login) but I thought I could help on this one.

If you save it as JPEG then insert it into word as described by SlightlyMadScotland you can then use the 'draw' function in Word to make a box which you can place over any text you don't want seen. You may have to do the following to the box to get it to 'float' on top of the image of the document you scanned

right click the box you made
select format picture
goto layout tab
click the advanced button
select infront of text

That's from memory as I now have Word 2007 where everything is different. If you're using Word 2007 I can desribe how to do it in that too, it's actually easier.

Hope that helps!

You see how the previous message was about 20 minutes before that one? That's how long he took to write it out. Very dedicated (or else didn't want to get it wrong and reflect badly on me )

Thank you so much for all your help last night.

I have managed to scan documents using photocopier and it is sent to my pc through email as a pdf. Then i copy and paste the pdf file into word - then I can change the documents, I need to make it bigger so it can be read, then crop bits off and then center in the middle of the page and it all works.

It is fab, it will take me some time to do each documents and there are a lot, but I am not pulling my hair out any longer walah!!

So thank you very much
