Geeky stuff

Can anyone suggest a good mp3 player for my mum, does it have to be a iPod?

Or are other mp3 players just as good?

I thought about getting her one for Mother's Day, was looking at the iPod shuffle. 1GB does not seem a lot though, I have already used almost 4GB on my iPhone for music.

It has to be easy to set up and use as mum is not a great hand with geeky stuff.

My daughter has an mp3 play - it is a sony one. It was around £30 and came in different colours, the advantage over a shuffle were it display the songs that are playing and she finds it easy to use (she is 10) no battery to buy as it recharges on the pc and it is easy to download music to.

Sony definitely. They have the best battery life, charge from the pc and no software so you just 'drag and drop' music which makes it simple. I've got one (bought a second after my first was stolen) and my husband does too. So much better than the other rubbish ones I've had that didn't work or took ages to understand!

Looks like it will be a Sony then. Thanks.

be aware argos only have this in certain shops - I got it from a sony shop inthe end as curries didn't have it in stock either!!

Ooh no, get her an ipod nano! The 'screen' on that Sony looks difficult to read. Ipod screens are great and they're so easy to use.

Too late, Molesworth. And the Nano was a bit too expensive for Mother's Day. If she uses the Sony one then I might get her a more expensive one for her birthday.

Thanks all for the tips. I ordered the Sony one from John Lewis, as I am not in UK.
