Depends on the server speeds but up to a day

How do I know what my server speed is and whats a good speed? I thought it would take an hour or two max.

all depends on server speed and how many people have the file you want.

on a good day, you could have a film in 3 hrs depending on your connection.
on a bad day, it could take a few days...

Are there any download sites that are better than others?

i use utorrent with mininova.

piratebay and isohunt are supposed to be good too.

Ive just been told it also depends on how many are seeding it.

like i said, it all depends on how many people have the file you want. they are seeding, you are leeching. the more people seed that particular file, the quicker you will get it...depending on your broadband speed.

i also find that downloading 'vcds' are smaller files that you can burn to cd using nero, the easiest. if you burn off avi or divx to dvd...you must ensure that you are not running any other progs on your pc. a dropped peice means the whole dvd burns out of sync.
