how do you go about getting a laptop fixed?

I love my laptop. But it has the touch pad you use with your finger to navigate around and for a couple of weeks now its been freezing up so you cant move the arrow around. We recently worked out that if you press upwards right under where the touch pad is while you use your other hand to move it about then it works so it seems there is something a bit loose in there. Is this sort of thing easy to get fixed, and how on earth do you find someone to do it??? I need it done in about 15 mins as well as I cant bear to leave it somewhere overnight Also I want more memory on it, I assume I could get the same person who fixed it to add more on?

I sympathise. I realy need my laptop for work and it's slowly giving up the ghost, but I can't afford for it to be away to be repaired...

Mine keeps switching itself off, so I took it to a repair shop last week, and they said it would be £70 just to open it up, and then they'd give me a price to mend it.

HereIdrawtheline, you could buy a mouse and stick it in the USB port to use. Not ideal, but it would do till you have time to fix it.
