Do you know anything about iTunes?

I have been cleaning up and removing stuff from our PC to make it run faster. So I take DHs itunes folder and removed it to an external hard drive whilst I removed him as a user on the PC (that was where most of the problems were!).

I then moved iTunes folder from the hard drive to my user and downloaded iTunes 8, plugged in his ipod but all I get is a box telling me that the default place for the iTunes folder is in My Music. I know it is there because I put it there but how do I get this music to talk to the ipod and sync.

After plugging in the ipod I thought that itunes would appear but it doesn't.

Don't know if anyone can follow this but I could do with some help before I go totally mad with it....

thanks

Can you use the 'Add Folders to Library' option from the file menu to add your My Music stuff?

MaplePecanPlait · 25/02/2009 22:43

thanks for your reply. I can't seem to even open the library though....

despite downloading another version of itunes.

can you try dragging the folder to the open itunes window?

MummyDoIt · 25/02/2009 22:47

Sorry I can't help. Just didn't want you to go ignored! Could you try removing the software altogether then re-installing from scratch?

RustyBear · 25/02/2009 22:51

Is this any help?

MaplePecanPlait · 25/02/2009 22:51

thanks guys.

Fruit - when I try and open itunes it says that my itunes is stored in the default My Music folder so doesn't open itunes at all??

Mummy thanks, I probably will try and remove itunes. Would love to throw it all away, really don't like Apple at all!

Just to hijack , we just had a problem with our pc and had to repair Windows XP. One of the things that flashed up as a problem to fix was re: itunes and since when I tried to open it, it started to reinstate the initial bit so I cancelled in fright! dh will retry this weekend.

However, my question is, is the library of music which dh has purchased stored centrally so that if we do need to reinstall we can access it without paying again ? Can we transfer music back from the ipod ? I did back up the individual files from My Music onto a memory stick but did n't have cd's to fully do the library at the time (do now and will do full back up if we get itunes running again). tia
