Help with pdf files

Hi - does anyone know how you can pdf a file so it opens automatically at "fits page" size. Mine seem to automatically save the pdf so that it opens at 116%.

I've been using Adobe and pdf995. I'll give Openoffice a try.

I don't think you can change any settings in pdf995. You can use pdfedit995 which is also downloadable free at www.pdf995.com/download.html to change the properties once you have created the file, but if you can create the pdf directly from OpenOffice then that would be better.

Hi, I've downloaded OpenOffice but having problems.

The document is a Publisher file but when I try to open it in OpenOffice it can't find Publisher. Am I missing something obvious?

Ah, OpenOffice doesn't have a Microsoft Publisher equivalent. Microsoft Publisher really sucks - a DTP program that doesn't produce PDF output is useless in the 21st century.

For the best professional DTP results in a PDF format without spending money I would use Scribus. You could also look at PagePlus, which is cheap and easy to use.

If you want to stick to M$ Publisher, I think you will need to pay for a commercial PDF creator - either Adobe Acrobat Distiller (the PDF format is owned by Adobe, so this is the 'official' PDF writer) or a cheaper alternative - there are quite a few around, take a look at NitroPDF and Nuance PDF Create.
