watching movies on a netbook....

another question

I'd like to be able to watch movies on my new netbook. From reading I can either:
a) get an external dvd player..... (cumbersome but easiest to implement)
b)download them from the internet (but ( have loads of dvds at home already)
c) Rip them using some scary software I don't have and drop them onto a nifty little memory stick
d)....?

Pros and cons please oh patient people.

I think that I'll be able to get my netbook to see my pc dvd drive over the network. Probably won't attempt it for a couple of days after its arrived though!

Not got as far as attempting movies but I need somwehere to boast - I managed to net work my machines so my netbook can see my pc's d: drive today. Am feeling ridiculously proud of myself!

\main problem now is that my cats can't uderstand why they can't sit on top of it on my lap.
