Suggestions for decent but cheap printer

I'm going to order a new printer and can't afford to buy a big high tech super machine. I have seen quite a few decently priced ones but was wondering if there is a trick, are the ink refills going to cost a fortune or anything else I should look out for?

I've looked at this sort of thing but there are even cheaper ones. Any tips?

HP printers are good. That is a good price for that model. In general, replacing the ink in any printer costs a lot, but I think HP are fairly reasonable. I have just bought the C6380 from Currys for £88, and it is fantastic value - photosmart, scanner, photocopier and printer in one, wireless too. If you can stretch, that is the one I'd recommend. Most retailers are selling the same printer for £150+ so Currys' price is a steal.

I've seen that one too on Amazon.de (am in Germany) for about 150 Euro. It's so hard to decide when they all list the same things but range in price from 30 to 199 Euro! Wireless would be good for later when/if the dc have their laptops (their only wish for next Christmas already!)

Some good deals at printware.co.uk and their laser printer pages show running costs, but I can't find the running costs on the inkjet pages.

I recommend buying a laser printer, unless you really need photo quality. Laser toner cartridges last much longer than inkjet cartridges and they don't clog if left unused for more than 10 minutes.
