Why is my computer saying I don't have virus protection when I just extended my cover?

I just took out another 12 months with Norton, downloaded it and installed it but whenever I start my computer it says it can't detect any virus protection.

Help!?

Well try restarting the PC if you haven't already. Then look through the norton settings in case you have it disabled.

If you know it is working but the computer still complains it's possible to turn the warning off in 'control panel - security center - change the way security center alerts me'

Get used to problems with Norton though. It breaks more computers than it protects. You'd be better off with AVG or Avast. Both are free and recognised by Windows as proper anti virus software.

Yep - why pay for Norton and have problems when you can get AVG for free?

Dont assume that, in this case anyway, paying for something makes it a better option.

Had similar problem - unfortunately I've deleted email from Norton. Send them an email via their site and they'll send you a couple of ways to fix it. Something to do with synchronisation between you and them.

Oh yes look for an update button. It's supposed to go online (probably daily) and update it's virus information. There will probably be a manual update button plus a setting to say update daily at a certain time.
