my landline has no dial tone

and when i ring it using my mobile, there is no bell, but on the mobile i can hear it ringing. the wireless router is connected to the same plug, and the internett is obviously working.
what should i do?

Phone whoever provides your landline? Make sure the phone is plugged in properly?

i've checked it i s plugged in normally

havent phone the provider because amthinking it will be a mega expensive call on my mobile..... i should do so anyways shouldnt i?

Can you get hold of another phone to make sure it's not the phone rather than the line?

Doe your provider have a website which might say if there's a service issue in the area? Mine does but I'm with Virgin Media.

i called them last night from my mobile and took the handset to my friends this morning to check it was working, and on my return, at half none am, the man in the white van was here. and i now have a workking landline.
