Very scratched Wii game - can it be saved?

The DSs' and DP's favourite game, Mario Kart, is scratched to buggery and the Wii now refuses to accept it. I've tried the JML disc clinic on it to no avail. Does anyone know of any other way of rescuing it?

sometimes video rental shops do a disk repair service. Ours does, costs about £3 I think.
