Skype keeps cutting out - any ideas?

Any clever mumsnetters who can advise me... I use Skype to talk to my mother abroad - it's worked great, but a couple of months ago started cutting out after just a couple of minutes. We end up trying a couple of times and then just resort to using the phone (which means my telephone bill is a nightmare!)

The strange thing is that it works fine when I skype other relatives overseas though - just my mum I can't talk to! I've downloaded the latest skype for mac thingie, and she's updated hers too, but still no joy. Any ideas please??????????

Where is she? I all sorts of probs using Skype to talk to DH in Dubai last summer. Apparently the Sheik doesn't like it cos he can't monitor conversations like he can via phone lines, so routinely scrambles the airwaves somehow (no idea what happens though). Common in lotsof countries where freedom of speech is not that wonderful apparently.

We (sort of ) solved it by having a number of different Skpe aliases and not using the same one too often. This seemed to reassure the authorities that Dh was not talking to the same person too often and we were usually ok.

Hmm, well she's in Sweden, so not exactly a dictatorship! I'll try a different alias though and see if that helps - thanks for the tip.
