USB Device not recognised?

I lost the charging cable to my mp3 cable so i bought a new unbranded one off ebay. Just tried to use it and it comes up with a message thatsays USB device not recognised by windows. Any ideas what I should do?

I don't know how to tell if it's a faulty cable or somehow the wrong kind. Maybe if you posted the model of the MP3 player someone will know if it needs a special type.

It's a creative zen micro. I haven't tried to transfer any music using the cable but it is charging up.

Ha was just about to post the same about my ipod shuffle.

Your message solves my problem. Your charger is the wring one and mine is knackered. I knew I had been having problems with mine.

Now am off to start a new thread 'does any one know where you buy the ipod chargers separate to the ipod'
