Bumping for you.

Not sure I do either. The reader attached to the PC can tell you are waving the tag near it and perform an action. Wave your MSN tag and it opens MSN?
Fun, but not that useful I reckon. Maybe I'm missing something.

Stores can attach them them to their stock so that they can tell if you shoplift so maybe more useful for businesses.

They can be used to give information- eg if you tag a film poster and wave your enabled phone/pda over it, it could bring up a web page abpout the film - or a tag on a company's door, or an item they sold could link to their web page - or maybe a tag on a washing machine would link to its online manual. Not sure how much you would use them in the home, though there is the Nabaztag rabbit that can 'read' a tagged Ldadybird book out loud.

Or if they were on food items, it could link to a recipe page
