Geeky stuff

My printer has just said it has the wrong cartridge in - it has been using it for days, what is going wrong?

I have tried turning it off & on again & I took the cartridges out & wiggled them a bit.

Any other suggestions?

If it has a gold chip thing showing you might very carefully wipe that. Some kinds are temperamental. I use cheap replacements for my Epson so I don't know about the full price ones, but now and then one will be faulty.

Btw you might want to actually unplug the printer and put it back in again after a few minutes. Some kinds are not really off when you turn them off.

I turned it off at the plug

I will look for a gold chip thing - not sure if they have them

WHY DO THINGS BREAK WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

Bump - as I have changed cartridges and hit it & left it turned off over night & I am ready to throw it out the window

Google for the exact error message and the make and model of your printer. There's bound to be help on the web for that.

I phoned Canon - they have a free number (thank goodness)
