Itunes library seems to have gone... help!!

Have spent a fortune downloading music from itunes. If I look at my library the titles are still there but if I click on a title to view/hear the track a message appears to say that it cannot be found. Can anyone think of ideas as to why this has happened and if it can be rectified. I have honestly spent a small fortune (ipod now broken so cannot import from that either) on the library and need to find it.
thanks for any help...

not sure on this one, but perhaps if you put the keywords into google you'll come across an ipod geek's help page!

I'm in the 3rd hour of restoring my iphone after a weird sync error which left me with a massive 'other' section which left no room to load any more music. I found out how to solve the problem by finding an apple help page.

good luck!

I don't have itunes, but I gather it only puts a link in the library and that the actual music is elsewhere.

Most likely in here:

My documents/My music/iTunes

Take a look and see as if you can find it there are ways to sort out the links to it.

Reasons it might have gone wrong.

If you had renamed the 'my music' folder then itunes would not be able to find it

It's also possible that you have accidentally changed the path in itunes settings.

Also are you logged on on yourself on the PC. If you log on as another user it may not find the music as each user has their own My Documents
