Blu-ray players vs DVD players?

If I have an 'upscaling dvd player', can I play blu-ray discs on it does anybody know?

No, if it's not a Blu-ray player it won't play Blu-ray disks. What it will do is play ordinry DVDs in a way which makes them look better on an HD TV, by adding extra dots I think to make the detail look better...
