Hi
I need to get this PC cleaned up and sorted out as it is running very very slowly is just generally annoying.

I have been advised to uninstall Windows and reinstall but feel I should leave this to someone who has experience.

My question is what happens to ITunes? we have tried to put it on an external hard drive but had problems using it from there!

Bumping this because while I don't know the answer I'm fairly sure PC World will simply wipe everything.

I 'think' it's a case of copying the itunes library database somewhere in MY Documents\My Music. There may be a menu option such as "export library" which would be better.

You will need to move the actual music too and keep everything in the same named folders to avoid problems.

Hopefully someone who knows properly will come along with a more certain answer.

Also I did spot that the PC should be unauthorised at the last moment and the new one (since it will be sortof a new PC) authorised. but that's for later when the rest is sorted out.

I transferred all my DS's itunes from our PC to his new laptop. I had to use his ipod as storage which is quite complicated however it all worked with no problems at all. Just don't forget to deauthorise you old computer before you clean it up.
this might help

thank you both so much.
I will look at this quietly tomorrow when I am alone.

De - authorising? is this straightforward? sorry I am particularly dim about anything more sophisticated than turning it on or off!
