It only happens with MN: the screen freezes, but I can open a new window in Explorer, however can't get rid of the frozen window without restarting. ANy ideas?

or Opera

Which IE do you have? I still use 6 and that is fine. Changing to Firefox may solve this problem, but fixing it is better if you can since the other browsers have their own problems.
Last time I looked you still had to use IE for any important sites like banks.

Have you tried clearing temporary internet files? That's worth doing now and then anyway.
Control Panel - Internet Options. Delete Files button.

Clearing cookies can solve some issues to. (I'd prefer to just delete the mumsnet ones myself so I'd do a search of Documents and Settings for 'cookies' which will find one or more cookie folders. You can look inside them for anything with @mumsnet in the name.

If you open Control Panel - Add/Remove Progams you may even have the option to uninstall/reinstall/repair IE.

I have the same problems, really annoys me. I can have loads of windows open with frozen MN screens

Bink · 18/01/2009 13:29

I'm having the same problem, but I clear it with Task Manager rather than completely restarting.

(CTRL+ALT+DEL, then click on "Task Manager"; when Task Manager comes up do End Task on the MN job - it'll usually say 'running', but it isn't, almost at once it'll come up 'not responding' and then you do End Task again. PITA but you don't have to totally restart.)

Oh and some people may be actually having problems with adverts. Perhaps using Java & flash?

You can update:

I'm having this problem too (only for the past two weeks or so). Does seem as though it only happens with mumsnet.

Anyone upgraded from Firefox 2 to 3 recently? I have just done so and finding F3 crashes a couple of times a day - F2 hardly ever did.

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 18/01/2009 19:43

No problems with FF3 here
