How can I put page numbers on my presentation. I go into 'insert' and tick the 'page numbers' box and nothing happens!

Heeeeelp!

Bumping for you.

I think you need to put it on the "master style" bit. Create a text box where you want the numbers to go and then click page numbers. My knowledge is a) rusty and b) mainly self taught though

NotADragonOfSoup · 13/01/2009 13:27

Hmmm... not sure if it works or not now. I'm sure it used to.

OK, if I have "slide number" in the footer of the Master style and then choose insert, header/footer, "include on slide... slide number" it appears.

which version of powerpoint are you using?

I have the 2007 version and can do it as follows:

Insert
Slide Number
in Header and Footer dialog box, select Slide Number
if wanted, click on Handouts tab and select Page Number
OK

Now your slide number should appear in the footer (by default at the bottom right of the slide)

Try View/Header and Footer - tick Slide number box - you can choose whether to have a number on the title page or not.
If you don't have a number on the title page, don't create new slides by duplicating the title page, as they won't have page numbers either - it goes on the type of slide, not what's on it, or where it is in the presentation.

Go to the Master Slide (view Slide Master or Master Slide) and put it in there.
