pc screen definition gone awry - advice please

posted this in chat in a hurry then realised there was probably somewhere more appropriate

my laptop (2 yo sony) is working fine, except last night the screen suddenly took on a pink fuzzy hue - like an old tv screen. the white bits are fine and the blck bits are fine, but the coloured bits are all tinged pink and wavy. It is headache enducing

my opc is my lifeline - somehow tell me how to fix it

Yes, that is what DG's dh has just said too. I cant press down between the two to check tho because the wires are hidden within the hinge.

dh has a laptop, but we dont have a desktop nor another screen.

I am so scared now that it will suddenly 'go' on me. Atm I can at least use it - albeit with a horrible pink fuzzy haze but if it goes I am seriously stuck

This sounds crazy, I know, but i am shitting myself so much about losing this
