What does it mean when you turn on the TV and the picture goes pink with dark pink lines?

It goes if I turn the tv off and then back on but it goes pink again which lasts for about 5 minutes. Is it something to do with the filament? I can't afford to buy a new one at the moment. Will it be expensive to fix?

i don't know really, we had a portable that used to turn pink all the time. was ok though (apart from that).
