Is it not in add or remove programmes?

i just asked dp and he sniggered. so i am guessing it's difficult! lol

he recommends a chainsaw and flamethrower. although, apparently it isn't as bad as Norton

that doesn't help does it?

If you go to control panel and select add/remove programmes, you should be able to get rid of it. Good move to imo.

I think trying to do this was the final straw that caused my DH to change his last computer (he now uses Norton though!)

Good luck!

its hard to give advice without knowing the OS, but put your computer into safe mode (assuming its xp or vista) with f8 and then remove the anti virus program using add and remove programs (assuming its XP). I would not use norton(symantec) or mcafee (we call it mcawful) and go for eset www.eset.com/products/. If you want pure av then estnod32 or or the security suite if you want a firewall as well.

Thanks, sorted it now, I had 19 trojans that MaCafee did not detect

Last year I had Norton, a trojan got through, corrupted my Norton, then within a short space of time I had over 2000 trojans, luckily the only other thing it corrupted was my MSN.
