How to 'bluetooth' photos from Nokia 6300 to laptop?

Is this possible?

I am almost ashamed to admit I don't know where to start. I've never been 'into' phones and have no idea how or even if they can connect to a PC.

Potentially. It depends on your laptop and software. What laptop do you own and what are you running from a software perspective. If you answer that, I will happily try and help.

MrsSeanBean · 29/12/2008 21:45

Er, I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 running windows xp home edition. I have IrfanView (freebie) graphics software.

Dumb question I know but does it have the bluetooth option.

MrsSeanBean · 29/12/2008 21:55

No it's not a dumb question maddoguk! I don't know . How would I find out?

its an option you have to specify on dells when you buy

but if press Windows Key + Pause/Break to open your system info, goto Hardware tab, and look for bluetooth in device manager to see if it exists. or if thats too hard click on my computer, manage then look in devices.

MrsSeanBean · 29/12/2008 22:04

Have looked in device manager, top level menus, also expanded to level 2, can't see any reference to Bluetooth, so doesn't look like I have it. Can you buy a bluetooth device to 'plug into' a PC maddoguk?

Yes you can. it may be worth checking out the nokia website because it can be a little hit or miss (based on our experience of multiple laptops nokia phones and operating systems. Alternatively you could use the usb docking cable and the pc suite software from nokia. Its not as fancy as bluetooth but I can pretty much guarantee it will work!

here is a link for one on amazon.. tinyurl.com/7g3v7x

pcsuite is here

let us know how it works out, and always happy to help.

Do you know that the 6300 has a tiny little SD card under the cover, that you can take out and put into other things like some laptops (if they've got a SD slot and you've got an adapter) or photo machines?

maddoguk · 29/12/2008 22:59

A very valid and good point!

MrsSeanBean · 29/12/2008 23:00

Is that the same as the sim card (apologies for being so dim)?

No, slide the battery cover off your phone, then it's on the right hand side at the bottom. You have to press it in to get it to pop out, and it looks like a tiny SD card. You can take it like that to a photo shop, or you can get an adaptor for about a couple of quid that will make it fit in your laptop SD slot (if it's got one!)

MrsSeanBean · 29/12/2008 23:07

Very good tip, many thanks!
