why does my laptop keep trying to connect to an unsecure network??

I live in an area with lots of students and there is lots of unsecure networks on my list, but my laptop keeps trying to connect to one.. I connect it to my secure network and then it disconnects and reconnects onto the unsecure one... why??

Make sure that the unsecure network isn't being listed as connect Automatically.
If using Windows and using the Wireless Network Connection utility, display the list of networks, highlight the offending network, click Disconnect. With luck it will then display the network, with the word Manual.
