Help me....I need to transfer photos from my computer to an SD card

I thought I could use my camera as an external drive - but it won't let me - it says device is write protected. It is not the little "lock" switch that is in the right place (and I did try switching it just to see). I have tried 2 different models of camera.

I used to be able to do this with my old xD cards and camera...is it a quirk of SD?

How else can I do it without spending money on a USB SD reader? I am trying to get pictures onto a photo frame. Will I be able to use the photo frame as an external drive?

you could google the make of photo frame? i'm sure we did ours without any external reader...but i can't remember how. sorry that's not much help i know. i tried to do this myself yesterday to get photos back onto my camera card & print them. i had to burn a disc in the end. which obviously won't help you. can you get a usb cable to connect the frame to your pc?

I solved it by callig on a friend with a laptop with an SD card reader at about 9pm last night....but at least it is done.
