Could someone please recommend a simple "How to"/"Dummy's Guide" that will explain to my lovely but non-technical FIL how to get the most from his computer?

In particular uploading files to t'internet, attachments to emails etc etc.

He knows how to surf the 'net, it's just all the value-add stuff he's missing (and I don't have the patience to explain it to him again )

thank you.

Which consumer guides are very good and user friendly.

Have a look here

Readers digest do a series called "How to do just about anything on your computer" - for vista, XP etc. Have a look on Amazon. They are clear, easy to use and cover basic stuff like organising photos, files, etc.

If it's for a present, have you thought about booking him onto a short Adult Education computer course? Depending on how old he is, I've seen ones aimed at pensioners; or certainly at different levels of experience. This might be another option !

Thanks guys - will investigate those.

The other alternative is to try and educate him myself, but I don't know if I have the patience (you should have seen how long it took to explain sending emails!!! )
