I have aspire 5050

there is a slide switch on the front edge below touchpad - which I slide to the right to enable/disable wireless - is that what you mean?

there are 2 slidy switches, wireless is rh one.

I think most later Acers have either a round silver push button or a ridged sliding one on the front edge

I have an Aspire 5040 and the wireless switch is a clear push button on the front edge of the laptop, to the left of the headphone and microphone holes. When it is connected to the network it glows orange.

I have 5715, and along the top of the keyboard there are a number of buttons, mostly for volume up/down. There is one with what looks like a satellite dish on it, and an orange light underneath. That's my wireless button.
