I need to put a blog on my website. Can anyone recommend a good blog site (is that the right terminology) and the best way to do this?

Thanks.

Mumsnet have a blog facility, and a lot of MNers seem to use this site

Do you already have a website? If you want the blog on it, then you need some software like Wordpress, or Moveable Type that you can install in your web server.
On the other hand, Blogger will host it for you, and do all the tricky stuff, as long as you don't mind it being on it's own site.
Personally, I use Wordpress on my own site.

Thanks. So does that mean you can't embed a eblogger link on your site (I have a website BTW meebles)

Do you have to pay a lot for Wordpress?

You can put a link on your site to anywhere, or even include it in an iframe, but if you want a blog that looks like it is part of your site, you need to run the blog software on your (web host's) server. The excellent WordPress is free, the probably even better Moveable Type isn't.

A word of warning though, if you run software on a web server you do need to devote some time to maintaining it.

Thanks MV. Will have a look at both.

Correction: there are free versions of Moveable Type available as well as paid for ones.
