i have got a non-digital video camera which i think has just conked out....i know i've asked about transferring tapes to disc but what will i do if my camera packs up on me?

i was advised to buy the convertor...from tape straight to disc...but if my camera's decided to give up,what will i do with all my tapes????

am I so in the dark ages that no one else has this dilemma?
