OK, so out of nosyness I clicked on the BNP members list and it immediately sent my PC haywire and shut it down.

I hadm't realised several things

1 that my windows firewall had been switched off- I def did not do this, how did it happen?

2 that my AVG free had suffered a CTC problem so had been unable to download updates.

3 I ran spybot and avg at the weekend, as do everyweekend.

This morning I have reloaded AVG and successfully downloaded all updates and ran Spybot.

Found 3 registry changes disabling firewall - what is that?

Also a Trojan which I have removed.

BUT still my window warning box is popping up telling me I have spyware infection, it says 'click here to ...' but when I click it does nothing?

AAARRGGHH. TIA

crankycrane · 19/11/2008 10:29

not sure about the registry changes to firewall
all I know is running two at the same time can conflict with each other

MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 10:29

Well, the super anti spyware has been loaded and run. It picked up 2 trojans and several other nasties that my Spybot didn't when I ran that an hour or so earlier! The virus (viri? viruses?) had also swapped my homepage for another, so that has been amanded with the super anti spyware - calm is restored.

Thank for caring macdog
