Good free parental control software ?

Is there such a thing ? I would like to try it before forking out for netnanny or such like.

And if there is no good free one - is netnanny as good as it's website says ?

My kids are 5 and 7 and are just getting the hang of googling images - fine when they type in tractor and JCB, not so good when they do it with nanny and somehow they choose to google "fat ladies" (WHY ??!!!) - had to drag my 5 year old away screaming because he wanted to have a really good look .

Will be watching this thread as this is something I have been wondering.
My DS (7) is using the laptop more now and it is in the living area but im not behind him every second and it worries me what he will accidently see!

have you got safesearch on your google?

no - how does that work ?

I tried glubble - but that just sets which sites they can use - so if you allow them to use google it didn't seem to be much use.

if not,

go to the google page and click on preferences on the right of the search box.

you can then select the strictest option in the safesearch filtering bit.

not sure it's a hundred percent but does help.

netnanny and such usually have a free sample you can download for a couple of weeks, methinks.
