Would I be silly to buy a desk top computer now instead of waiting for the boxing day sales

My pc really needs replacing and I don't know if its worth hanging on for any bargains - or does any one know of any good deals that are out there now. Any recommendations please??

Why replace it. Has something broken? If it's just a bit old and slow you can put Puppy Linux on it. It's specially designed for older machines.

One of the kids jammed a pencil and other foreign objects in where the discs goes so now that does not work

A DVD player/writer is pretty cheap these days, as long as you know someone that can install it for you.

This is pretty cheap. It's not a fast box and I'd suggest upgrading the RAM to 2GB, but it's pretty good for the price if you just need basic functionality.
