If you had £250 to spend on a printer at PC world what would you get?

We had a Canon printer bought 18 months ago for £150. Paid that £1.99 a month thing to repair or replace. It broke a while back and they decided not to repair it so we have been given a 'replacement product voucher' to the value of £250.

We can only use it at PC world or Comet and only in store not on-line. Also can only be used to buy a printer, nothing else.

THe thing is that most printers have come down massively in price, we want to get the best we can for the money but there is not much out there at that kind of price. (I know we don't have to spend the whole amount but would like to).

we loved the print quality of the canon and would really like the Canon Pixma 850 here but it is only available on-line and not in store. When I asked pcworld when it was going to be in store they told me 'some time in the future' . Have had a lot of trouble with Epsons in the past so would like to avoid unless someone here can recommend a particular model.

Any ideas? thanks

Any printer gurus out there?

Will they do you a package with loads of ink?

Check out the price of cartridges before you decide - that's the expensive part in the long run.

I've always had Epsons with not much trouble - currently have the DX8450 - about £50.

agree £250 is a lot for a printer, could you use it for a combo printer - some come with scanners and fax capability. I'd also look for photo quality and wireless if possible.

That Canon one does look nice!

can you get this one? www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/499293/EPSON-WIRELESS-3-IN-1-PRINTER-FAX?

I'd be inclined to draw up your wish list of features in order, and then go into store and look at the most expensive ones and work your way through it.

thanks for the ideas - I was being a bit dim, it's actually PC world and Currys not Comet - will have a look at the Epson reviews and see as well.

I don't think you will find a good review of an Epson inkjet

That Canon you linked to is IMHO the best inkjet on the market, are you sure you can't persuade them to give you that one? Failing that, Canon are definitely making the best inkjets at the moment, although you could look at HP.

Thanks Mr.V, I do want the canon, has ace reviews but they are adamant the voucher can only be used in store. Might have to look at HP. I'm going down the line of getting a really cheap printer to tide us over then getting the canon when pc world deign to stock it in-store.
