sony digital camera - problem with memory stick

it is about 2 years old. Out of guarantee of course!

It keeps saying 'no mmemory stick' even though it is in there. I have tried new sticks but same message, so cannot take any pics.

Do i throw it away and treat myself to a new one, or do you think it is something that could be easily sorted? I dont want to spend a fortune on repairs when there are some good deals around for new ones.

thanks

bump before i give up and buy a blinking new one!

Anyway where do you take a camera if you are thinking of repairs? Do they do it in places like Dixons etc or do i have to find a specialist camera shop?

I'd try Jessops or somewhere - ask for a quotation for repair. As Digital cameras are so cheap (and getting cheaper daily) you might find it cheaper to replace rather than repair.

I've got my eye on the Sony DSCW170 - under £130 at Amazon !
