what is the cable called that connects phone line to pc???

The cable from the modem to the PC is an ethernet cable I think. Is that what you mean?.

They have a name? All this time I've been referring to it as the phone to pc connector thingy.

Not RJ45 - that's an ethernet cable.

A cable from dial-up modem with a US telephone plug on the end is called a RJ11. It needs an adapter to fit into a UK phone outlet.

er, not sure, one end plugs in to the wall and the other to the phone port thingy on my laptop?!!?!

they call it a Modem cable, RJ11M-BTM, or PC TO PHONE CONNECTION CABLE
