Yes

What format are your videos? Not sure about PC, but on a mac, you just drag and drop the icon onto the itunes icon and it imports the video into itunes.

If that doesn't work I'm guessing something like File - Add to Library?

You can then right click on the video and use Get Info to adjust the data on the video (for example, amend it to movie/tv show, add an icon image, and other metadata.

(I'm currently ripping old tv series I have on DVD onto my mac using HandBrake so I can watch Buffy in bed on my ipod!)

i think thats the bit i am missing, the ripping the dvds on to my pc. They are all dvds like Night Garden, Pocoyo etc, and I can watch them on the pc but thats it. How can I make it so I get them on to the ipod? Am so useless at this stuff......

Hmm, as I say, I use HandBrake for Mac - there is a PC version, but I've heard there are differences for versions:

HandBrake download. The Handbrake forums should be able to help out with specific issues, but it is fairly straightforward.

For my Nano I use the settings iPod Low Rez (to keep file size down), 2 pass encoding - turbo first pass. Then all you have to do is hit go and wait a looooong time
