help me... what is PPPoE service

ok so i am trying to connect me new computer to the internet..
it is asking for an account name, an account password and a PPPoE service.
I can only find my account number and the only password ive made is my security one for on the phone.
I just tried calling the virgin media help line and the bloke asked me to call them back in 2 hours. Dont know why though. ahh! Can anyone help?

PPPoE is Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet.

Maybe you should Google for "pppoe settings virgin"?

I need an account name. have called virgin tonight, twice. They are totally not helpful at all, was on hold for half an hour and cut off! still not connected.
