Why can't I install flash player?

I've ballsed up my computer good and proper. I did have flash player installed, but when trying to install 4 On Demand (actually reinstalling, but that's another story) it said it needed a newer version so I followed links to get an update, but it didn't work. I thought I'd uninstall it and start from scratch. So I managed to uninstall it, but now can't reinstall it!

It just freezes at the point where it says: "When you see the installation completion movie above and text below, your installation was successful. The installation should only take a minute or two on a 56k modem."

What have I done? Please help - I'm sat around on maternity leave waiting for baby to arrive and I need to watch Strictly Come Dancing on iPlayer!

Could be your anti-malware software blocking the installation? Make sure you have things like 'install Active-X controls' set to 'notify' and not 'always block'.

Thanks, but the trouble shooting on the adobe website suggested that and it's definitely set to prompt. Hmmph.

We have exactly the smae problem if using internet explorer BUT if using firefox its ok. The computer chaps where my DH works says it could be something to do with windows.... sorry not sure what the problem was... it was rather long and complicated. Never had this problem until about 1 month ago. If you find the answer will you let me know. Its maddening!!!!!

Try visiting this page which will show you which version of Shockwave and Flash you have installed. If will also prompt a download if a newer version is needed.
