Is it worth having?

Trillian supports multiple protocols for instan messaging so useful if you are used to running many different types of chat.

What will be using your IM software for?

Using Trillian to connect to say MSN used to be better than having the 'proper' MSN client because it was less bloated. Don't know if that's still the case, but it probably is.

Also, if you use Trillian you're less subject to the MSN viruses that do the rounds (not completely impervious, but certainly got a little extra edge of protection).
