probably just about to buy a DELL laptop (the inspiron one that is about £429 - would put a link to it but this computer is about to die and it would take all day ) but just wanted affirmation really that its a good one to get - we are clueless about computers but a friend recommended it - he reckoned we should get this one rather than the next one down price wise because it will be faster.
We will mostly be using it for word processing, the internet and my dh's HUGE itune collection but doubt we will be downloading films or anything like that..
we reckon that because we are clueless and out last laptop died after less than 2 years, it might be an idea to get a the support package for 3 years even though it seems expensive. Opinions and experiences welcome, thanks!

NO - don't do it. We had numerous problems with our DELL laptop and the customer support was useless. Finally had the laptop replaced after contacting TS and a nasty letter to DELL. I would NOT recommend them.

I've had my Inspiron for nearly 3 years and it's been great so far, no probs

I haven't got the extended support package.

We got ours in March 2005 and it's still going strong despite having been hauled around the world during our year out in Oz. Dell support were good even when we were overseas and hadn't actually paid for that level of support.

We have 2 Dell's - not sure what type though.

Great - no problems with them at all.

I have a studio 15 and my brother has a inspiron. Both work fine and we have had no probs.
