Geeky stuff

Argh, pop-ups! Why am I suddenly having lots of unwanted ads appear while I browse?

They are driving me insane.

They are usually related to the page I'm looking at (eg loans when I'm checking my bank account, Vertbaudet when browsing for kids' clothes...) Does that mean spyware? My laptop has security software so surely this shouldn't be happening?

More to the point, how can I stop them?

Sounds like you have a solution with Firefox for now.

I looked into those items and 'Favorit' is apparently software to pop up adverts.

It installs along with some free program you downloaded. If you uninstall Favorit then I expect the free program whatever it was will also stop working. That's usually how these things go.

Personally I'd uninstall it if it were me.

This place pc-on-internet.com says a little bit about it. It also offers a program to uninstall favorit if the normal uninstall didn't work.

I'm not able to test any of this since I don't have favorit installed so it's up to you.
