I bought a new PC and have everything up and running on it except for the internet.

When we forst got the PC (a HP) I just plugged the cable in like I did with the laptop when we first got the internet. And it is asking for usernames and passwords, but we dodn't have a username or password.

Any ideas on what I need to be doing??
Thanks

Do you have a username something like @skyinet.net?

onager · 06/10/2008 12:17

Actually not always the case now that you need a username/password because if your ISP has it's own equipment in the exchange (LLU - local link unbundling) then it's like a hard wired connection and they know who you are.

But I don't know how they do it in the Philipines so calling the provider is still the best bet.

Aparently it is plug and play so there is no username and password. Other than that the CSA was not helpful.

Hmmm, somehow it is now working, I don't know what I did!!

This PC has been a pain in the arse since we got it though.

Whenever I try to turn it on most of the time it says on the monitor that there is no input signal? But then it eventually turns on.... Driving me mad!!

the monitor thing sounds like a dodgy cable between the pc and the screen.

Jeepney · 06/10/2008 12:58

Its all connected correctly, do you think I should get another cable??

if you have another one around it is worth trying - I had issues a bit like that for a long time - and replacing the cable sorted it out.
