Ours seemed to myseriously run out of ink, without being used - how often does a printer need to be used, to not go funny?

Are you sure it is really out of ink - it could be that the nozzle has got bunged up. Ours has an option somewhere to clean and check the nozzle, which might fix it.

Oh, I already bought new ink, and it worked fine with the new ink.

A page I read said some of the inks have expiry dates (the companies make their money from the ink, not the printers, so they make the ink cartridges expire ).
