web hosting

Am trying to find a reasonably cheap web host to try my hand at web design. I don't want anything to complicated yet but might later on as I really want to get into this stuff!
am a bit bambozled as to the choice. Was going to go for the free option with my ISP but this has been discontinued.
Please let me know who you use and why (and dont be too techy!)

not a web designer I'm afraid,my Dp does all that for me, but do have my own website.

I use 1 and 1, have my website and shop hosted with them, also bought my domain names through them too.

They ofetn have very good deals on.
