Ipod in car, how do you get it to play thru stereo?

I have an itrip but keeps cutting out, doesn't really work very well...is there an easy way to connect an ipod to a car stereo?

I just saw the title and came on to say "you need to buy an itrip thingummy" ;) Don't know otherwise (mine plays through my tomtom)

was going to say itrip.i found freq 88 i think works best.

you can buy a radio transmitter that plugs into the bottom of your ipod and then tune it into a freestation on the radio

I dont know what an itrip is so sorry if that is what you already have

I use a Griffin Itrip just plug it into the bottom of Ipod and agree frequency 88 works best on the radio. It's great

iTrips don't always work well in big cities because the FM band is so full.

You might need to get a new car stereo that has an auxiliary port - then you can just plug your pod into that. (Your stereo might already have a spare port?)

dunno why my itrip keeps cutting out, it will be fine, then switch off and can't find where it's broadcasting to...it's kind of old though, maybe the new ones are better.

Yes itrips can be a bit difficult if you have a lot of strong radio signals in the area - you need to tune to set it at the frequency with the least 'traffic', as misdee said, 88 is quite good.

Otherwise, if you've still got a cassette player in your car, you could use a cassette adaptor. You put it in the cassette deck and plug into the iPod's headphone jack, the cassette adapter allows the sound output to be heard through the car stereo speakers. Not many people still have cassette players in their car though!

urgh no no cassette player, will try 88. Does the itrip go on to another station if it cuts out? I don't know how to find which station its broadcasting to! Seem to spend the whole time searching for it...

I use one of those cassette thingies, they work pretty well - called an i-scream.
I do have an older car though and the CD player broke, so I am left with the tape, the radio and my ipod shuffle and i-scream

Okay find the station that has the least 'interference' Then plug itrip into ipod . There should be a 'Griffin Technology' folder with a list of tracks that are actually radio frequencies? Find the song that matches the frequency that you want to transmit on (seems like 88 a good one to try!) . When you play that that track, the LED on the itrip on the front of the iTrip will start blinking on and off, then press play again,it should start blinking slowly. then you've set the frequency.

But to get that Griffin Technology folder onto your ipod you have to use your CD that came with itrip on your computer then copy to itunes or something. Ex-DP did all this on his car.
