Do I REALLY need to charge a new mobile phone battery for 24 hrs?

Cos I really want to use my new Blackberry and can't wait that long! It's been charging all morning and looks fully charged to me!

Dh swears you can wreck batteries if you don't do it right.

My new phone said charge until fully charged...
It will give instructions in the handbook. Think it was the old batteries that had this problem.

As far as I can see, the book just says "charge to full power" but will check!

There are different types of batteries- dh explains but I snore LOL- some types can develop a charge memory which caps the amount of charge you can give the phone at lelow maximum. If your instructions say to full you've got the other type
