iphone help needed

today i picked up my iphone upgrade
i have synced it ok all my photos videos and music are all on there, how do i get all my phone numbers transfered from old iphone to new one, i thought it would do it either by sync or from sim card but it hasn't, what do i need to do?

The ONLY way to get contacts into an iPhone is syncing with iTunes.

Making a call with iPhone is as simple as tapping a name. You won't need to re-enter all your contacts because iPhone syncs with the address book you already use on your computer?Address Book or Entourage on a Mac, or Outlook or Outlook Express on a PC. If you keep your contacts on the web using Yahoo! Address Book, iPhone can sync with them, too. To get ready for iPhone, organize your contacts in one of these applications and make sure they're up to date with the latest phone numbers and email addresses. If you don't have contacts on your computer, don't worry. You can still enter them directly into iPhone.

I assumed that it did it via itunes too as when mine syncs with itunes it takes note of any new contacts etc.

it did sync all my photos music and videos but not my phone numbers and not my texts, i cant remember where i read it but know that i have read that you can transfer all texts and contacts, theres no way i can find of putting the contacts onto the simcard either.
have just looked at that info shiny and to do it that way i need a data cable if all else fails i will do it that way, thanks.

i have sorted out the phone numbers yippee, i overlooked ticking the outlook sync thing so easily sorted, now to see if i can do anything to save my texts i have some texts i really really want to save, and some i may need for legal reasons.

I had a look at blue book but it says not compatible with iPhone, I will have to keep my old phone I guess!

have only just got my iphone and dont really have a clue how to use it ... need to learn how to set up email etc .. have synced itunes and manually put in a few contacts and can text ... not sure about email though but guess i need to bite the bullet

Could you bluetooth the text messages?

Otherwise with your SIM card in old phone select 'save message' for each text you want to keep and they are usually saved to your SIM card and automatically transfer to new phone when you put the SIM back in.

Sorry you did tell me about the iPhone/Bluebook thing- brain like a sieve this week!

bodiddly, you set up email on the iphone itself, go into settings>mail> it's pretty straightforward then.

I have the weather for Munich, London and Prague on my iPhone. Dh tells me this is weird. So when I'm checking out tomorrow's weather, I can tell him what it'll be in London too, but he doesn't seem to care?

Anyone know how to create a new 'roll' for the photos? There seems to be space ofr loads, but all I take goes into the same one - getting rather large now.

Love it. My fav. toy ever.

i want one. but am tied into contract.

am trying to work out how to persuade dh to upgrade to one, & give it to me, as he is not interested in this kind of toy. It would involve us swapping phone numbers...I don't know whether he'll go for it.

yay do it do it emsie!! Ask the shop - is there any way you could 'pac' the numbers over to each other? If you're both with o2 perhaps you could just swap sim cards? - you'll have to ask them.

I'm sure you could find a way to persuade him.

Well, I mentioned my idea to dh, and he said I was like a child wanting a new toy, because I could give no good reason to do it, other than because I want an iPhone, and my brother has one!

I'm not with O2, so don't think I could keep my number, as it would involve breaking my current contract, which still has 10 months to run

Oh well, I will drop hints again around Christmas time when he is struggling to think of what to get me...
